No Kwams ... the Indo Pakistani heritage sucked up something wicked to the locals and still do to this day based on religion, same as the Egyptian, Sudanese, and even moreso the Palestinians etc. ........ the expatriate whites were respected and tolerated back in those days as they were essential to the building of the infrastructure of the country and abided by the culture/religion and laws of the country as they knew the consequences* ...... ALSO were there only for a short while for one thing ... to make a buck !!

I think "backwardness" is the more apt term to describe the situation in Saudi Arabia at the moment Cal.  The ruling male class there are determined to drive that country back to the stone age as soon as possible.  I'm being overly kind when I say that the treatment of women in that country in particular is appalling.  Animals have more rights in Canada than Saudi women have in Saudi Arabia.
