KINGSTON, Jamaica —West Indies opening batsman Lendl Simmons has been ruled out of the ongoing tour of India with an injury, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has advised.
The WICB in a release early Monday said that Simmons is suffering from a back injury and will return to Trinidad to continue his rehabilitation.
The WICB selection panel will name a replacement in the coming days the release said.
West Indies has played two of five scheduled One-Day Internationals (ODI) against India since the tour began. They won the first ODI by 124 runs and lost the second by 48 runs.
The team is also expected to play one T20 International and three Test matches.
