It is great to have the U19 win the domestic U19 competition and that bodes well for the future but as far as I am aware in the last 6 seasons, Guyana has ended last on all occasions except 2011/12 when they finished 4th.
Importantly they have only won 4 games, 3 of those coming in 2011/12, in this period and last won the competition over 20 years ago.
So whether the franchise system in the 4 day competition will help, you be the judge.
However my general point is, if the franchise system extends to the 4 day competition, it will benefit any team going through a patch and strengthen West Indies cricket.
However if Guyana exports most and it benefits West Indies cricket surely that is the purpose of the initiative.
