being gay had everything to do to with it..along with the fact that Sam is just an ordinary football player who would have had a hard time getting drafted if the buller issue had not been raised.
Sam came to understand where a buttered bread for him was located so he played the card. he has been very successful given his level of ability. there was a bidding war for the rights to his story. Oprah won!
there are all kinds of other 'benefits' Sam no doubt has cashed out. the man held a card and he played it hard. he forced the NFL to draft him and give him a chance.
the Rams were never going to keep him. he was not drafted to be kept. he does not have the ability anyway. so they brought him in gave him a full chance then cut his rass and deh are in the clear. they have met all obligations.
