Actress Arlene Martel, who guest-starred on "Star Trek" and "The Twilight Zone," died Tuesday of complications from a heart attack in Santa Monica, California, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She was 78.

Born Arline Sax in The Bronx, New York, Martel attended the High School for the Performing Arts and starred on Broadway in the late 1950s before transitioning into screen acting.

(CNN) -- The Islamist terror group Boko Haram kidnapped at least 97 men and boys and killed 28 people this week in a raid on villages in Borno State in northeast Nigeria, a local leader and residents said Friday.

Boko Haram gunmen also injured 25 others during the raid in which scores of homes were burned, the sources said.

The gunmen raided the farming and fishing village of Doron Baga and surrounding villages on the shores of Lake Chad, about 110 miles north of the state capital, Maiduguri.

The raid and kidnappings occurred on Monday, but the news did not emerge sooner due to lack of communication and because cell phone towers were destroyed in previous Boko Haram attacks.

A racist mother has been jailed after she covered a neighbour with a mixture of flour and water and told her: "You are now white British."

Kellie Wells had carried out a campaign of harassment and abuse against her former friend Pamela Bower.

It culminated with her climbing a fence between their homes in Hollingbourne Road, Gillingham, and hurling the mixture at her amid laughter.

In May last year, Wells made racist comments over the fence, calling the victim "a black gorilla" and telling her: "Take your welly boots and go back to your own country".
