Pakistan offspinner Saeed Ajmal has been reported for a suspect bowling action, following the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

As per ICC regulations, Ajmal will have to undergo testing of his action within 21 days, but can continue bowling until the results of the test are known.

According to the ICC, the match officials' report cited concerns over a number of deliveries that were considered to be suspect and concluded that the bowler's action needed to be tested. The report has been handed over to Pakistan's team manager, Moin Khan.

Moin was confident Ajmal would be cleared. "We were informed by the ICC and it came up as a surprise," he said. "But it's just a procedure as he is going to undergo a re-test on his action and we are sure there he will be cleared and will be available thereafter. Meanwhile we will play him in the next Test. There is no panic at all, he is still our best bowler and we all support him."

The PCB, in a release, said it would wait for the testing process to be completed before reacting to the matter. "Once such a report has been made, the ICC rules take over and the entire process is controlled and regulated by these rules," the PCB said. "The PCB has no choice but to wait for the outcome of the process before proceeding further in the matter."

This is the second instance of Ajmal being reported for a suspect action. In April 2009, the bowler was reported for his action while bowling the doosra, and was cleared the following month.

Check up 1-2 videos in youtube and it can be seen how he chucks the ball, especially that 6 second video.

i really don't know if he will be banned, but he is a chucker, and that is clear from this.
he has been reported for it the second time in 5 yrs.

They probably wanted to let him off the hook,he was warned earlier in 2009 as i said, but they are starting the crackdown only now.
Soon Lasith Malinga will come in their radar..I really really hate him and want him banned.
AN apt example for a pelter..

Pakistan Cricket Board announced today that Saeed Ajmal would receive a further two weeks of work on his illegal bowling action before being sent to England for assessment.

Quote:The PCB has decided to extend Saeed Ajmal’s remedial work under Saqlain by another 15 days,” the PCB said.  “After further remedial work in the next fortnight, Ajmal shall be sent over to an high-quality lab in England for testing to ascertain the exact degree of improvement in the ace off-spinner’s action,” the body added.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan earlier this month told AFP Ajmal’s elbow flex has now been reduced to 20 degrees after it was measured at 43 in a Brisbane lab in August. Under International Cricket Council (ICC) rules bowlers are permitted to straighten their bowling arm up to 15 degrees, which has been established as the point at which any straightening will become visible to the naked eye.

Ajmal's modified action still does not comply with the 15-degree limit. Ajmal will remain in England to further modify is action in an attempt to get retested before the World Cup.

Saqlain Mushtaq "ICC should take into account Saeed Ajmal's medical reasons. He has a natural 11 degree bend in his arm"

So the testing revealed that his offspinner and faster delivery are now within the 15-degree flex but his doosra is not and the PCB's response to this is to suggest the ICC should make an acceptance to Ajmal due to his injuries?
