Artificial muscles becoming a reality

It's a little old I must admit, so it's not quite current news and affairs, but considering this is an ongoing industry, I think this is worth posting about.

Artificial muscles and organs are finally becoming a reality. And where are these miraculous inventions coming from? Surely from some new space age technology, maybe from a time traveller dropping his future tech by accident? Not quite.

Fishing line and candy floss. You read that correctly, fishing line and candy floss are being used to develop these wonderful new technologies that could literally breathe life into suffering patients.

is a video detailing how fishing line is being used to develop artificial muscles which will of course help amputees, those who are restrained to a wheelchair, amongst plently of others.

Well, we already have some means of helping people get out of wheelchairs, it's just that right now they're very expensive. Or it requires amputation which...isn't ideal.

The hope is that with the abilities of fishing line only recently discovered, we can advance quicker, and for cheaper. The current issue is regarding how to heat the line and then diffuse the heat quick enough to really make using them worthwhile.
