I thought his claim to fame was 'bowling coach for ENG' ??? ....."In going after the objective of winning and dismissing the opposition twice, the West Indies have brought on board fast bowling great Sir Curtly Ambrose as a bowling mentor."

As for the batting .... "After recent below-par performances from the batsmen, Gibson said he also invited the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers, the former West Indies captain and outstanding all-rounder, to come and look and have a chat with the batsmen during the pre-series camp"

Aw well !! ...... Read more >>>>

I dont think coaches make great players. I think great players attract coaches.

I do not know what is expected to be heard from RP!

He is responsible for all cricket in the region and the Coach.

Under him, he has spoken to the greats and now getting some of them involved, like  Curtly and Sir Garry.

Who did Gibson get involved previously.

Positively, Sammy has been removed. Gibson has been given some clear deliverables and told in his tenure more should have been delivered.

Failure will see him out by the end of 2014.

Pybus has also briefed and empowered the selectors who have a performance criteria. He will stay out of it and see how their decisions pan out.

My only issue is the selectors perseverance with Samuels. Spent force and a mediocre player with flashes of absolute brilliance.

You want segregation of duties and empowerment of people doing a job so Pybus has told them what needs to be done, how it will be measured so they are now in no doubt.

The negativity is ridiculous, but quite in character.

It is an illusion that Pybus getting things done.

All of his recommendations are old hat and quite dated.

No one enacted anything b4.

Sammy had to go , it was just too much clamouring in the Caribbean

The spat between Cameron and Hilaire as a result :

appears to trigger odda changes .

Ketchim,

It is quite sad, to me, you are terribly negative about most things unless it is liked to Guyana and Guyanese. That is as insular as it gets.

Blackwood et al......

You may well say Sammy had to go but would he have gone?

The difference is Pybus has consolidated every thing into one strategy and he makes no secrets of listening and learning from the great West Indian players he intentionally solicited for opinions and advice.

I take your point that it may not be anything new but it is the will and drive that is quite different in a focused manner through a directorate that is not blurred with then CEO's office.

Change has to happen and there is now focused resources to do it so you can do worse than support it.
