No charges for Finance Minister after February accident
THE Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has advised the police not to charge Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh with any offence following the accident in which he was involved last Mashramani Night. The decision was made after the persons who were affected both indicated that they no longer wish to pursue the matter. The minister was accused of driving a government vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, but has since denied this claim.
I am a backer of this regime and I believe that the minister is a brilliant fella, but no way would I use that to keep him in the cabinet after this incident. He must be fired. He is on call 24x7 and if he wanted a drink which being human he is entitled to, he should have gotten a driver. That is why they are paid so well, to be above reproach. Well tell me what you want, I believe he had drinks in his system. However I do not believe he ignored the victims since he sent someone to speak to them, presumably out of fear he did not hang around or maybe he was just not considerate enough of his victims. Whatever the case he has to go. Alcohol was in his vehicle which I am sure is a government vehicle and not a Banks DIH truck. He has to be fired.
It is as if Guyana is being run by heartless/brainless beasts. The minister runs into a taxi, and the taxi gets impounded by the police but the minister gets to keep his vehicle. So this man is deprived, whether temporarily and by law, of his means of livelihood while the minister gets to keep his vehicle to be repaired as quickly as possible.
As for Nandlall and the absurdities he spews, time will take care of him. I hope that he'll be able to accept that he is not as relevant as he so desperately wants to be.
A course of action: Finance Minister submit resignation , The President make the decision to accept or not. I don't live in GY, so I do not know the worth of this man to the Government or if a replacement can be find in time for upcoming budget..BUT the proper PROTOCOL would be the submission of resignation!
the man shud have resigned immediately...cabinet and elected office. that is the tradition isnt it...you compromise yuhself in these ways you submit you resignation.

the leader mus' accept and the political/official problem is over..while you proceed to deal with the issue as a private citizen.
if they find proof he subverted the process by a bribe he might be liable for perverting the course of justice..I doh know Titty law. but I am sure that is a crime in the english system
