It has become a depressingly universal truth in education that children from poorer backgrounds

tend on average to do less well than their richer counterparts. :-[

But what would happen if you took those poorer families and gave them money, real hard cash ?

If you make a poor family richer, will their children's chances of success rise accordingly ?

Or is it much more complex?

The experiment, which is planned to launch in 2015 :

will try to establish to what extent living on a low income is the "active ingredient"

in such different outcomes.  8)

here's the thing about education, higher or otherwise......

those of us who have the access and the freedom to pursue it....really don't appreciate this, so we can easily say it's not important

those who don't have it......are, in many cases, giving their lives to have to get it

and there's definitely a lot of truth to that....

my daughter - 4 years university and one year teacher's college

my son - two years college

daughter's education - cost us 4 times (could have bought a house with the money  ) as much as son's (fortunately for both of them we paid 100% for their education).
without our assistance she would still be paying off student loans....especially now with a family...children and house to maintain

but hear this.....my son is now making more money than his sister  :o

But she is a more well rounded and versatile Individual.

She will OUT-THINK him 9 times out of 10  .

Thats what a Uni education gives you ....

seriously Ketch....not in their case.

my son is extremely smart and goes toe-to-toe with her on any topic of discussion/argument......he just did not see the value of a uni degree compared to college

right out of college he got a job.....and last week got his 3rd promotion in the 4 years he has been on this job.  he is now a team leader and is oversing 8 people!!

Imagine IF he had a uni degree....

he wouldda been in Charge of the entire company !

a 2 year College vs a 4 year honors is a MisMatch !

No contest !

My daughter is having intense competition at this Insurance Company.

So much so , she is about to slam dunk dem with her MBA 

his recent promotion.....he was chosen against peeps with BAs!
