Out : handled ball

Folks ,

have not seen this since circa 1960s.

BUT ....it is still in the Laws .

Lewis from TnT got appealed against by the Leewwards XI .

WICKET! #TTvLEET&T 161/2 (57.3 Ov). Lewis handled ball 78. Leeward Islands appeal.

The Umpires consult and Lewis is given out.

Oh man, I wish someone'd recorded this I so want to see an instance of handled the ball.

Law 33: Handled the ball

If the batsman touches the ball with his hand not in contact with the bat for any purpose other than, with the approval of the

fielder(s), to return the ball to the bowler, he is out on appeal.

It is considered etiquette for the fielding team not to appeal if the handling of the ball does not affect the play of the game,

although there are occasions when this etiquette has been ignored.

Only seven batsman have been out handled the ball in the history of Test cricket:

Russell Endean ,Andrew Hilditch, Mohsin Khan , Desmond Haynes, Graham Gooch, Steve Waugh,Michael Vaughan

Law 33 : Handled the Ball

Two batsmen have been given out in this fashion in One Day Internationals:
 
Mohinder Amarnath was dismissed after pushing away a turning ball from Greg Matthews that spun back towards his wicket.

Daryll Cullinan was given out handled the ball after chopping Keith Arthurton into the ground and catching the rebound,

which may have been heading towards the stumps
