A son or daughter frankly doesn't matter. A girl is just as valuable as a boy. I find some of these patriarchal notions extremely amusing. A male child is no reward for a great sporting performance!  8) Count on these people to link performance on the cricket pitch with the gender of a child Similar things happen in some parts of India too.
