You Folks do know that at end of day's play Pitches were left as is ?

I 'll have to check when ICC ruled they must be " covered " at end of Day ...

No one wants to bring sobers down as his record speaks for itself. Clearly one of the greatest of all time.

The modern day player play more cricket In more varied conditions and to keep enthusiasm and fitness are things the payers of old did not have to deal with.

Pleased to see the greatest end on the winning side giving the Indians a bit of a beating.

Go well Jacques Henry Kallis.

Quote:How many on Covered versus Uncovered Pitches  ?

in my time of watching cricket from the 19-sixties I never saw and uncovered pitch nor read of one anywhere.  by the time Sobers arrived covered pitches were out

I know you Mail/easyrider.  I know how your intellect works. your position in this matter is a biased one.  that is how I take you on kallis/sobers.

Sobers will lose in any such comparison with you as judge no matter what is involved, or to whom he is being compared

so sad Sad

{ Sobers made his debut in 1953 at 17 years 242 days old.

the Oz tour of 1955 he was 18 years old, on his way to 19 in July of that year}

Quick question...Can Kallis score all those runs without a Helmet and bouncer restrictions???
[/quote]

Well until the ICC ruled a limit of  2 bouncers per over.

Sobers could have face 6 or 8 bouncers in a row without  a Helmet !

Roy Fredericks who used to take it on his bare Head without blood shedding :

later got the nickname " Concrete head "    ::LOL::

Excellent endorsements and it must have been a very good innings.

To suggest that  Kallis cannot fill Sobers shoes is just plain wrong .... He can fill one of them
