India and England were blown away when touring but prior to that they were solid at home
Similarly the West Indies were doing well at home before they toured India and New Zealand
As a matter of fact the West Indies were even better than India in New Zealand in ODI's but still posters here are very critical of the West Indies .
There are no major flaws with the West Indies that a minor tweaking wouldn't fix and those here that are relentless in their criticism maybe has an agenda.
West Indies basically toured with their B team and still gave a good account of themselves and when Gayle , Pollard , Sammy, Roach and Darren Bravo returns , they will be a force to be reckon with
Both England and India have been ranked No1 in Tests and ODI in recent times so I do not see the comparison.
In fact England comprehensively beat India in India, a feat not many achieve.
There is therefore no comparison.
West Indies home victories were against fellow minnows and a Kiwi team in strife over the Hesson/Taylor matters.
Windies had not played a test for 8 months before India and yet they were demolished within 3 days in in both tests in India. That is part of the issue.
In NZ it would also have been a 3-0 clean sweep but for Taylor's over cautiousness and the weather. Yet again they lost within 3 and 3.5 days! That is the issue.
It is rather idiotic to explain mediocrity by other teams performances especially teams that have occupied the top spots in the ICC rankings.
The fact is under Hesson, New Zealand has improved. The bowlers can actually do something with the ball and they work hard. Under Gibson the West Indies have not improved, the bowlers do not seem able to hold good seam position, they are unthinking and do not have the art of either swing or reverse swing. They persevere with bowlers who are tried and tested failures e.g. Best.
In the ODIs and T20s Fletcher continues to be selected when he has an absolutely poor record.
Yes the West Indies managed to draw an ODI series in New Zealand and that is good.
You mentioned a little tweak, what is that little tweak?
Set the standards for your team and not make excuses.
The fact is the Coach is not making an impact on the team and if was an advert for Coaches then I would have to agree with Mappippee that Coaches are unnecessary.
Sammy has no place in a test team. Ask anyone apart from yourself.
The agenda people here have is to genuinely see Cricket improve in the region.
we are indeed structured to fail. i have been calling Gibson a saboteur on the board next door. he is. he is doing it deliberately..structuring west indies to fail.
I have been going on, on that theme for a long time if not in these direct words here.
but when I speak of agendas however, what you said is not what I meant. arks Rev!
