There are coaches and then there is, how shall we say, Otis Gibson.

When teams (read coaches) fail to deliver, coaches usually “resign” – resignation being the official line for what is, in reality, dismissal.

Otis Gibson, on the other hand, remains the “coach” of a team that for three years has been, and continues to be, by all standards

a catastrophic failure and constant embarrassment to West Indies cricket.

Yet, there is not even an indication of him “resigning”.

In fact, the WICB renewed his contract for another three years! 

Which brings us back to the question – if not coach, then what is the role of Otis Gibson? 

Perhaps there is a method to this madness.

Maybe, like the movie the [size=10pt][size=12pt]Curious Case of Benjamin Button[/size][/size] :

Gibson is coaching West Indies in reverse, going back in time so to speak.  ::LOL::

Not a bad idea, come to think of it.

If one were to follow that line of logic then maybe, one fine day, we will return to the glory days of the 80s.

I would have expected to have heard something from Richard P following their return from New Zealand.


Should be expedited, much like the ECB actions.


What really is the WICB doing renewing this man's contract for a further 3 years.


I hope if he has to go before, it does not cost the WICB. However I am sure it will.

Ottis Gibson, the coach of the West Indies team has been, and probably still is the epitome of the autocratic, inflexible,

controlling and task-oriented coach.

During his tenure his team has performed very poorly but unlike Flower and Arthur he has retained his job.

I hope that he appreciates his good fortune, learns from the mistakes of these two coaches, commits himself to becoming the best coach that he can be, adjust his teaching style to fit the learning style of his players, and adopt a new and productive set of values and coaching techniques that will bring the best out of his players.

Former players from the Worrell/Sobers and Lloyd/Richards eras who took their teams to the pinnacle of success, as well as the millions of loyal West Indies supporters deserve no less.

GIBSON IS COACH BECAUSE HE IS VERY GOOD AT SABOTAGING THE TEAM WHICH IS WHAT THE WICB WORKS TO ACCOMPLISH

the team to India does not appear to be intentional but it resulted in sabotage because that is what the Indian overlords wanted.  Gibson is  very good at that for 300K usd per anum.  Buttsy too. 

I would bet good money that no one at all has to tell Buttsy what to do.  like Skameron does not have to pull him aside and say "look nuh Buttsy... pick ah side dat is dysfunctional, dat India will dispatch with no trouble!"
