I would definitely not walk around with that thing attached to my ankle, couldn't it have been at least in a more convenient spot?

I guess it was just to keep it alive until they could re-attach it in the right place.

Yeah, I can definitively see that being useful. Although it depends whether it's the right hand or the left. It matters, trust me.
