Until our players start playing about 80 percent more annual cricket at home, and until we have good pitches at home, and until we have our home boys playing the best of our local bowlers, and often, they will always suck.
This NZ game was no worse than Lara's team's visist to NZ. No progress has been made. WI bats well only in the final matches or innings in tours because by then they have gotten some practise. Practise makes perfect. WI do not play enough cricket, and what cricket they do play tends to be 20/20 cow-lash cricket.
_______
Now what of the future?
Lets assume Chanders, Gayle and Marlon Samuels retiring tomorrow, and that Sammy and Dwayne Bravo, who most would agree are useless, are dead.
Who are our future, young WI players? I mainly watch Trinidadian domestic cricket, so I don't get a good look at the players from other islands.
This is our future pool, please feel free to add players to the list:
Adrian "2 foot" Barath
Kieran "throw away meh wicket" Powell
Kraig "slow like paint" Brathwaite
Darren "I like to tweet" Bravo
Lendl "in the form of my life" Simmons
Evin "massively underrated and better than all you idiots" Lewis
Nicholas "jailbait" Pooran
Johnson "i look like I always about to stab somebody" Charles
Kemar "best damn fast bowler and probaby best damn batsman in WI cricket" Roach
Shane "chucking and pelting aint the same thing" Shillingford
Jason "ambrose" Holder
Sunil "bamboozler" Narine
Samuel "I can spin too" Badree
Ravi "more roti please" Rampaul
Krishmar "how i end up in jamaica?" Santokie
Kieron "swing like tarzan" Pollard
Dwayne "literally Tarzan" Smith
Kevon "gentle breeze" Cooper
What can we do with this?
Please feel free add who you think are other potentialy good WI batsmen to my list.
Honestly, I would field a ODI team for the Test games. Charles and Simmons will give you a fast 80 runs each and you would probably end up with a bigger score than this paralysed Test team can give you.
