Point taken and as another poster said .... fair comparison

* Ramnaresh Sarwan ended his test career with a very ordinary 40.01 average.

* But check his first class average---39.11

* What does that tell you ?

* It tells you that a batsman with ordinary first class numbers will always have an ordinary test career.


* NOW GO AND CHECK DARREN BRAVO'S FIRST CLASS AVERAGE.

Numbers cover up more than they reveal. Stats without context is meaningless. Although in this case, I agree that his career was far from spectacular.
HOWEVER, beggars can't be choosers, and 40+ is STILL good IMO. I'd take him in the test squad at least anyday.
