Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 England allows him to go home and treat his condition in a professional manner. Hillaire barked ably assisted by Opiss at Sarwan all the way to his parents home . where he did not come out for over a week. His parents begged him to come outside . Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - easyrider - 11-25-2013 Fair comparison and have to admit, had not considered Sarwan's case in such a sensitive manner as perhaps I should. I therefore feel saddened by my my lack of judgement and consideration I offered him. Similarly I hope Trott gets better but , if one had to go by Trescothick, he will not return. Without being insensitive, his form has been an issue for a while. Is this pressure or genuine depression? Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013-14/content/story/692405.html Jonathan Trott, the England batsman, has left the Ashes tour with a stress-related illness that he has been coping with for several years and will not return for the remainder of the series. Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 West Indians call Sarwan " spineless " England send Trott to seek his medical team ... Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 "I don't feel it is right that I'm playing knowing I'm not 100% and I cannot currently operate at the level I have reached in the past," Trott said in a statement. "My priority now is to take a break from cricket to focus on my recovery." Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-west-indies-2013/content/story/601020.html "I never spoke about this because I was caught up in a shell and I used to not come out of my house for up to three days. My dad was the one to inspire me to start back playing." Sarwan said . Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 "The coach said some negative stuff that hurt me mentally and emotionally," Sarwan told BBC Sport in May last year. "Mentally I was broken down, not from the stress of playing, it's just certain individuals have drained me mentally. It took a toll on my confidence and the way I play. Everything went away.'............ :'( Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - easyrider - 11-25-2013 I think the reason why Sarwan would have, unjustly, been seen as spineless is because his episode seemed to have been triggered by a personal confrontation with the Coach, so some would see that as weak and spineless as mentioned. I can see why some, perhaps myself, would have held unsympathetic views towards Sarwan. At the same time, Trott, Thescothick, Lou Vincent issues seemed to have evolved totally around cricket related issues especially touring. Different cultures do have vastly different ways of accepting and dealing with Mental Health issues so I am not surprised England embraced the need of its players and you will see that paternity and other compassionate leave are offered to players these days. As a general question, given the lack of support from the West Indian authorities, could Sarwan not have sought and funded help himself? Re: Difference between Sarwan and Trott - ketchim - 11-25-2013 "I'm away from all those problems, my mind is at ease and I have had nothing to worry about, no coach to say any negative things. At one point I didn't know which was my back foot and which was my front foot." :-[ Sarwan prospered in England, making 294 runs at 36.75 for Leicestershire in limited overs matches and 941 at 40.91 in first-class competition !!
