Millions Still Slaves Worldwide

In a landmark study called the Global Slavery Index 2013, analysts at the NGO Walk Free have found evidence of slavery in 162 countries, including the United States and Canada. In all, the report estimated that 29.8 million people across the globe are enslaved – which is more than the population of Texas. The five worst countries in order are India, China, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.
