The 35-year-old Zaheer Khan started the spell by first cleaning up a dogged Narasingh Deonaraine

with a beatiful ball which pierced the defence of the Guyanese :

after he had made a fighting 99 runs, which included 13 hits to the fence.

None of the West Indies A batsmen stood their ground to the India A attack :

except the indomitable Deonaraine who put up stiff resistance with a fighting knock.

Deonarine has grown on me since his fighting series in Australia where I thought the selectors would give him a 10 test run plus some ODIs but that was not to be.

You cannot encourage and develop good players if they are in and out of the team. Look at the career of Ian Bell, averaging in the low to mid 30s and the selectors persevering with him and we are reaping the rewards of that for some time now.

I was never that keen on Narsingh but he has shown bottle and for that the selectors should give him a fair run and if he fails then goodbye.

Narsingh was never given a fair run . He was never allowed to recover from failures  , instead he was sidelined

I agree Kwami.
