Heat Wave Scorches West Coast

It's crazy hot in the western U.S right now. Just how hot is it? So hot that a fall on the sidewalk can land someone in the burn unit. Some desert locations are bracing for temperatures of up to 120 degrees and Death Valley is expected to come close to its hottest ever recorded temperature of 134 degrees. So while tourists are often known to flock to deserts during extreme heat events (um...why?), it might be best to just stay inside today.
