Bangladesh Dhaka building collapse leaves 87 dead

dont get me wrong, Ketchim - work conditions can always be better. and we should read news like this - its unfortunate and sad.

now someone should investigate when these buildings are built:

1) do they meet blding construction requirements?

2) how many ppl are allowed in the blding before its considered a fire hazard or a hazard in general?

3) what are the SOPs used?

4) what processes resulted them in the first time round to have a fire and now a blding collapse?

5) when constructing the blding did the contractor build the building cheaply and pocket the money saved?


too many things to consider and for the Government of India to clamp down on.

if they dont care for their ppl - they expect outsiders to care for them?

why is it sad?  are they not lucky that they are allowed to be engaged in slave labour?

The Retail Council of Canada (RCC) issued a statement on Tuesday saying it will work with

global partners, including apparel federations in the U.S., to develop an updated set of

responsible trade guidelines, best practices, educational material and resources for the industry.

The meeting was called by Loblaw Companies Ltd.

Joe Fresh was one of the labels being manufactured in the building.

The Canadian retail industry is hoping to:

“align, in a meaningful way, with a plan to address safety standards

in the Bangladesh garment industry.”

Garments recovered from this collapsed building would now be sold as pre pressed
