im pretty sure i saw a documentary on that in african tribal areas where they practice female circumcision and there was nothing about it that tied it to islam.  they werent muslim.  so i am not sure where your claim is coming from.

Read about that in a book called "The Infidel" by a girl from Somalia, I forgot her name.  I think it's Ayanna Hirse or something so.

Re: Googlee RE: Hindu Ceremonies - Nargis - 01-20-2010

in any case - back to the topic.

i polled a bunch india hindus here to teach me the ways of the rituals.  i asked 5 ppl - all of whom are around my mothers age, lived in India prior to coming to canada and practice hinduism where they stay far away from any renk.

they told me that the outdoor wedding has no symbolism and is not necc to be performed outdoors.  the only reason they did it that way in India is:

1) their houses were too small

2) some of the areas they lived in had no banquet halls...

however the ppl in the city who had access to halls used them.
