USA cricket combines will unveil next generation

FORMER West Indies batsman Ricardo Powell has announced the return of regional selection player combines in a bid to identify the best talent in the Americas region.
Despite being a common feature of other USA sports, combines, where athletes are given various exercises to prove their speed strength and skill, are not a common feature of cricket.

The last such event was held in 2016. The combines will be held in eight different locations across the United States, with leagues permitted to put forward up to four players in each of the three categories – Senior men, Senior women and Under-19 – even though individual player applications will also be considered.

The combines are again scheduled to be held in Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and for the first time, a junior-combine will be held in North Carolina.
“The combines provide a crucial platform for us to see the raw talent that is spread around the country.

With the combines taking place this year, we believe that we’ll be in a fantastic position to spot the next generation of USA players in the Women’s, Men’s and Youth squads and I would implore anyone who thinks he/she has what it takes to get involved in the 2018 Cricket Combines.
I look forward to seeing what talent we can unearth this year,” Powell said. (Sportsmax)
