The Lab Medica Group, through its Health Net My Card Sport programme, continues to deliver free medical services to the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) and the national cricket teams this Saturday at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva.
My Card Sport is a Medical and Merchant Discount Card given to all national cricketers free of charge. With this card all cricketers can access free doctors visits at any of the Lab Medica-Health Net clinics nationwide and get discounts on a wide network of merchants.
According to president and CEO of the Lab Medica Group Richard Ramrekha: “The My Card Sport programme also serves as an annual medical surveillance programme since all cricketers go through a thorough medical check yearly to ensure that there are no medical issues.
“It is known that many athletes have suffered fatal consequences of medical diasters such as cardiac failure whilst on the field. Some of these situations could have been prevented with a proper medical surveillance programme. It’s the noble initiative of the Health Net to offer a free medical surveillance programme for the players,†he said.
This Saturday, all national youth team cricketers will go through their annual medical check up at a mobile clinic. A full team of Lab Medica-Health Net doctors nurses and technicians will be there to conduct these evaluation.
This strategic partnership with TTCB has now led to cricketers having a piece of mind that they are medically assessed and ready for action.
My Card Sport is also offered to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and all national footballers.
