1.  tarjay

The alternative pronunciation of the big-box store Target.

Calling "Target" by the moniker "Tarjay" aims to make the shopping experience seem more upscale than it really is.

To prevent this, all you need to do is make the name of the big-box store sound more sophisticated and upscale.

It adds a seemingly French sound to the name, and that sounds impressive :

Ann: Did you buy that button down shirt from the local store in town?
Bruno: No, I bought it from tarjay...oh-la-la
Ann: Oh, you mean Target?
Bruno: Yeah, but calling it Tarjay sounds fancier, and conceals the fact that i am cheap

its just being sarcastic about it

Top 7 Greatest Things About Target.
Target was established in, well many many years ago.  The answer would be quicker to find than typing this sentence, but I am still not going to look it up.  It was founded right here in my state, Minnesota.  Growing up the choices for budget stores that sold it all were limited to K-Mart and Target.  And I recall our family going to both places.  The majority of the time we were at Target. This was because they sold popcorn.  My mom had a thing for those long skinny bags of popcorn.

A store that prides itself on working people to death.

Clock in at Target and you have no idea when you're actually getting off, scheduled hours mean nothing

They have a bizarre alphabet-soup way of describing everyone's position

that no one understands, and everyone in management is called some kind of "leader"
