Credit to Misbah for dragging his heels and wasting time, though I think this is something that the ICC need to look into. Almost no Test matches finish on time these days due to the amount of time wasting that goes on in between overs.[/quote]
And it looks as though the ICC has washed its hands of any potential changes to the bad light situation claiming that captains rejected the idea of finishing a Test match under floodlights as they are afraid of unjust finishes:

Quote:Speaking at the ICC headquarters on Monday, Richardson said: “There’s no doubt that it’s one of those issues cricket has been faced with historically, and we’ve not really found a solution to it.

“We have attempted in the past to say to the players, if you have floodlights and they’re good enough to use for Test cricket, we should just bite the bullet, and even if conditions are not as good as they might be normally, we should just play on and finish the day’s play. However that approach wasn’t accepted by any of the teams. They felt that would be unfair and would lead to unjust finishes.”

I am not really sure how you can have an unjust finish when you have less than 30 runs required to win. At a minimum, the floodlights would ensure that the allotted number of overs are bowled each day. Too many overs are lost each day due to slow over rates. This also seems to fly in the face of the ICC trying to introduce day/night Test matches.

Mark Wood has been recording video diaries throughout the tour of the UAE. His wrap-up of the first Test with Ben Stokes is comedy gold. The best part is when Stokes' Geordie accent inexplicably morphs into patois.
