the impression is that this time people expected or anticipated results..intervention!

why?

humanity has been and is seriously evil..and the planet is in a state of decline that is horrendous, really bad and getting worse.  people suspect limits have been reached and surpassed and consequences of a fatal kind are nigh...including outside and divine intervention

I am afraid that that is a forlorn hope.  there is no god, the mess is ours and we must clean it up or die by our own hand.

that is the process we live, a self correcting process that is huge, universal, expanding.  that perhaps is why we have not felt the consequences of our ignorance to a fatal degree as yet.  but we have a massive technology now and our crazy, greedy exploitation of the planet now has global implications.

Fukushima may yet take us all with it.  the gulf of Mexico is still leaking, pollution infiltrates everything and the horrendous use of unnecessary medication is altering human DNA.  the medication is now in the water from human excreta and we cant get them out....

and there is much much much more..like 'fracking' for example..currently laying waste to the american hinterland...with global implications.

no god has to or will interfere.  no aliens will either.  one way or the other humans will resolve our problems. they are of our own making.  we will solve them or they will kill us off.  either way problem solved

same way no alien will intervene....

the question of alien intervention seems a simple one indeed.  if aliens have developed technology that spans allows them to travel the universe, based on what we know there is no conceivable reason they would need to intervene in our affairs.

I cant think of any reason at all they would need to.  they would not need oil for energy, to eat us for food, to occupy our planetary space.

one assumes easily that a technology that achieves space travel at speeds beyond anything we know would first have solved a whole of their problems that would include starvation and all the nonsense we yet grapple with.

such solutions would also have long included for them social relations in which they were prisoners of personal and group wealth, exploiting each other to death for such material possession and social control.

they would have long come to an acceptance of themselves for who they are, collectively solved their material problens and into the universe looking for eternal answers.

relatively humans would be putz, violent, nasty and ignorant.  they would scan this planet from a million miles away and be gone in a blip..totally uninterested.

they would not want to save such a species as we from ourselves.  can some one give one reason why humanity must be save from itself.... Huh Huh Huh
