Under 8 years of Bush those Ma and Pa operations got bought out because the big corporation used the wealth generated by their tax breaks to buy up smaller companies and outsourced the jobs overseas. 

Outsourcing was heavily defended by the big CEO's during Bush's 8 years as a necessary and prudent measure to lower the costs of manufacturing and generate more profits for the shareholders.  Now the economy has tanked because all the fcuking jobs which were once in Boonieville USA are now in Beijing China and Bangalore in India.
