City to mom: Don't worry about the damage of police car that killed your son, the bill's on us
Laverne Dobbinson, 45, holds a collection notice and a photo of her son Tamon Robinson, 27, who died in April after trying to run away from cops after he was caught stealing paving stones from of a Brooklyn housing project. She cried at her attorney's office in Brooklyn, because the city is attempting to collect $721 from his estate for damage to a police cruiser during the arrest.

Embarrassed city officials said Friday that the mother of a Brooklyn man fatally struck by an NYPD squad car can rip up the bill she got to cover the cost of fixing the dented vehicle that killed him.
