There are another 20 or so countries with few infections and 0 deaths. I haven’t bothered to list them.
The decimal number is from calculating deaths as a fraction of confirmed infections. Not the best, but it’s all we have.
The significant results are that:
(1) China (and Japan domestic) have a death rate of around 3%+
(2) Korea is at 1% and the Japanese cruise ship at .5%.
(3) Iran is at nearly 20%. Iran’s death rate might appear high because infections are not being diagnosed until serious. No idea why Korea and the cruise ship appear to be so comparatively low, nor why both seem to be panicking.
Other anomalies are:
The US and Canada have a minuscule number of reported infections and no deaths. It has already been widely suggested that infections will not be identified without intensive screening and testing – which is not being done. Assuming that Caucasians are much less susceptible to the virus and have only mild symptoms, this situation will continue. But this doesn’t account for the lack of infections among Asians in North America, given the high proportion of Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese in those two countries.
Europe has only a collective handful of infections but, with only 3 deaths, Italy is locking down much of the country.
The virus appears to be completely ignoring Caucasians and blacks, attacking primarily ethnic Chinese and going after Iranians with a vengeance. If this is true, it would be interesting to know the variety of the genome in Iran, whether it is a simple mutation of the mother virus or a special strain (perhaps courtesy of Fort Detrick or Pirbright). Whatever the truth, this is not an equal-opportunity virus.

In terms of demographic characteristics, the average age of the confirmed cases was 51 years old, and nearly 80% of these patients aged 30 – 69 years. As of February 20, about 78% of the confirmed cases were from Hubei Province. …
Editor’s note: That’s important. Many doomsters say that this is a devestating epidemic across all of China. I doubt that most of them could find Hubei Province on a map. It has not taken hold in China’s other 30+ provinces and other units.
