When David Granger threw his hat into the political ring, I wrote a letter to the Guyana media, quoting extensively from a presentation Granger had made at a security confab in one of the South American nation, some years before, to show that he had revised Guyana's immediate post colonial history by baptizing the PPP as the demon, the PNC as the aggrieved angels, and Indians as being violent racists with blacks being innocent victims. Subsequent to my letter being published the Internet was scrubbed clean of that presentation and it was then I realized that I made a mistake by not downloading a copy. Since then a few, including Freddie Kissoon, continue to locate Granger as decent, unbiased, non-racial et al, ignoring the fact that he was significant player in rigged elections under Burnham. Ignored as well are his many pronouncements that makes it clear that he's disciple of Burnham and his aim to return Burnhamism to Guyana, including party paramountcy. Already we have seen elements of all this in play. Also he has shown disdain for court rulings referring to one particular ruling as their opinion which he contradicts with his opinion. Furthermore he sets 'rules' and then proceeds to violate them the most glaring example being stating that certain individuals were too old to be retained in their positions but then appointing others much older, such a Justice Patterson as GECOM head. And now we see his position on the no confidence bill undergoing a 360 degrees turnaround as he had first proclaimed that he and his government would abide by constitutional stipulations and then completely scrubbing any such mention in his new year's message.
