Shannon Gabriel has been fined 50% of his match fee and handed three demerit points

after an incident involving Sarfraz Ahmed on day four.

He deliberately made contact with Sarfraz at the non-striker's end

when collecting his cap from umpire Richard Illingworth last evening.

I know that a lot of people were calling for at least a match suspension, but really I think that the fine is an appropriate response, he just bumped a dude. Stupid? Sure, but not worthy of a suspension.

only for a review to show it was a no-ball.

Shehzad was on 21 at the time and that delivery was Gabriel's sixth no-ball >

A few overs later, Roston Chase, bowling off spin, would have had Shehzad

out stumped for 32 had he not overstepped.  >

or 32 overs.

I guess he will not be doing any laps or push ups

This old school approach to a target would work if the pitch wasnt a genuine day 5 pitch.

Gabriel is a traditional Windies quick who conjures up images of the glory years but he needs to reign in his no-ball problem and become a consistent match-winner.
