Quote:The atmosphere surrounding West Indies cricket keeps getting murkier and murkier with no sign of clear skies on the horizon. Nothing seems capable of halting the malaise or stimulating any kind of healing: not the men's and women's Twenty20 (T20) World Cup triumphs that happened in April this year; not the Under 19 World Cup win in February; not the recent Test win against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE); not the many inquiries done and recommendations made over the years; not the CARICOM interventions; nothing.
Relationships between senior players and administrators are becoming more and more frayed; the future is becoming more and more uncertain; and the public are becoming more and more frustrated. When will everyone start getting along? When will tranquillity return to the affairs of West Indies cricket? When will all the conflicts end?
Take this recent episode. Peeved at being offered a grade "C" contract when he apparently thought he deserved better, senior Test batsman Darren Bravo decided to decline the offer. Seen as arguable West Indies' best batsman the Trinidadian was also angered by West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) president Dave Cameron's assertion on TV that Bravo's regression in performance is what led to his "C" retainer contract.
