With all the cameras and games being played nowadays, you just have to hope that the sheer weight of "evidence" leads to better players being ushered up the ranks, regardless of ethnicity.
The last 2 wave of Indos were managed poorly. Sarwan got run out and Deo and Fuddas were never given proper runs, due largely to the selector's obsession with flashy all rounders. I'm not saying Deo and Fuddas were necessarily good, but they were never given a chance to properly fail.
Rampaul was given a long run but got fat.
R. Emrit is quite vocal about his "best years gone wasted because WICB never selected him because WICB doesn't believe in Indian fast bowlers". But if you were a selector, would you have picked Emrit over Roach/Taylor 2/3 years ago? It takes a brave selector, one open to experimentation and willing to break traditions, to do that.
Today we have Permaul, Narine, Bishoo and Singh and Pooran coming up. Are they unfairly persecuted? I don't know. Badree and Narine are T20 and ODI mainstays for the WI. If the WICB listens to the fans, Permaul and Bishoo should make it onto the test teams permanently as well.
Chandrika looks like he's being given a second life as well.
