Lester King debuts with a bang

Lester King made his Test debut 54 years ago today. And what a debut it was, taking five wickets in his first four overs and finishing with figures of five for 46. He became just the third Windies bowler to take five wickets on debut - Hines Johnson, Alf Valentine and Jaswick Taylor had previously achieved this feat.

Check out the match Sobers had: a century in the first innings, a fifty in the second, and then topped it off with a five wicket-haul to complete a 123 run victory and 5-0 series thrashing.

It is a shame that due to the presence of Hall, Griffith and Sobers, King only appeared in the two Test matches - his second and final appearance coming against England in Guyana almost six years later.
