The Sidney Morning Herald trumpeted “The Rebirth of Calypso Cricket,â€
The Morning Herald article is required reading for its almost poetic ability to simultaneously damn
and praise: “Now, the game has gone calypso, and as it turns out, the Windies were there, waiting for it.â€
Or how about this nugget: “As for style, you would have to say it is naive. How else could you
describe a team that in pursuit of a modest target fritters away early wickets
lets dot balls mount insouciantly, saunters between wickets and leaves themselves 19
to get from the last over, and gets them anyway, with two balls to spare?â€
It’s all a load of crap. Demeaning, bigoted crap.
