Quote:"At times, you look to finish it with a big shot. When you are batting well, you go for it. It is a learning for him [Mahmudullah] and others who finish games. That is what cricket is all about. If it had gone for six, everybody would have said what a shot. It is important to decide before playing the shot, if you have to play it or not."
The words above came from Indian captain MS Dhoni after India escaped with a narrow, heart-stopping victory over Bangladesh in the ICC Wotld T20, 2016. In the final moments, most viewers would've hunched forward, eyes ablaze, pulse racing, open-mouthed. It was that kind of game. The Indian captain's words indicate he empathized with Bangladesh and the approach of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah. Both perished attempting big shots to the deep mid-wicket area when just two runs were required from three deliveries for their side to upset the tournament favourites.
