Hope we can see him in some sort of Batting coach role !

He is known for playing long, tiring innings against tough bowling attacks, and on land-mine line pitches. He holds the record of facing the most number of balls without being dismissed, and that is against India. That's the longest period of time any test player batted without being dismissed as well. A gem of a cricketer. No controversies in such a long career. He should have been part of an Indian or an Australian cricket team. He deserved more respect and support from the WI cricket board.

A few of my favourite Chanderpaul Test match stats:
  • [li]The most scores of 50+ by a left-handed batsman[/li]
    [li]Third most runs by a left-handed batsman[/li]
[li]One of only seven lefties to score 5000+ runs with an average over 50 (Sobers, Sangakkara, Lara, Hussey, Hayden and Border are the other six).[/li]
[li]One of only three left-handed batsman to score 5000 runs in overseas Tests (Lara and Border are the other two).[/li]
[li]Chanderpaul's average in team wins (65.66) was higher than that of Lara (61.02).[/li]

Great player...also the only man ever to have his cheekbones sponsored?

Players use anti-glare patches to reduce light entering the peripheral area of the eye

Shiv began wearing anti-glare strips under his eyes in 2005, that he just simply bought at a supermarket :

displaying the Mueller brand anti-glare patches.

But within a year, Digicel owned the rights to the space on each of Chanderpaul's cheeks. Smile
