Cook wafts at a wide one down leg side off Viljoen and the debutant has a wicket with his very first ball in Test cricket. Cook will be bitterly disappointed to have once again been dismissed nibbling at one down the leg side. Even more disappointing is that it occurred just 10-minites or so before lunch. England in trouble at 22/2.

Compton goes just as England were recovering. Another wicket for Rabada. He is a star in the making. England 74/3.

Bavuma showing cat-like reflexes for a sensational catch to dismiss Taylor. He is brilliant at short-leg. England in some real trouble at 91/4.

as much as I enjoy watching Eng lose, I'm rootin hard for them to beat the Saffies for obvious reason Big Grin

Stokes is fearless. He has come out and attacked right from the first ball he has faced. He has quickly become one of those much watch cricketers. Meanwhile, another Test, another Root fifty. This partnership - 71 off 54 deliveries - is very similar to their brilliance against New Zealand at Lord's last year. England 162/4 at tea.

I think 162/4 can be seen as a slight recovery for England because at one point it looked like they wouldn't make 120. South Africa are still in control of this match, there's no doubt about that but at least England have dug in and are at least trying to make some sort of fight of it.
