They don't change their minds when they get to office. They lie, or stretch the truth (say what the voters want to hear), while they are campaigning to get into office. Then they are obliged to their financial supporters who did them favors on the campaign trail. This is why Trump is so attractive to many, because he will not owe anyone any favors if he is elected. The White House will be a step down in living conditions. The stress levels of his daily job will skyrocket while his financial reward will plummet.
