ANDREW STRAUSS: I’m providing clarity in the fact I’m telling him and you that he’s not part of our plans in the short term

and I can make no guarantees beyond that. I’ve got to say just to be clear this is a decision that myself, Tom and Colin

[Graves, ECB chairman] are completely aligned on.

ANDREW STRAUSS: Kevin and I had a private conversation and I don’t want to divulge the content of that conversation.

He wasn’t happy with the decision.

I didn’t expect him to be but I do think it was important to meet face-to-face and give him the reasons.

I really don't see what purpose these people serve in the modern game of cricket. Cricket has too many unnecessary people when compared to other major sports. The coach is all should be the one that selects the players he wants to play.

In what other sports do the coaches or managers actually sign players? Signing/scouting players in football, rugby, the NFL, NBA et al is the equivalent of selecting players to play for your country in cricket. In all those sports, it is the General Manager or director of foootball that makes those decisions, with, in some cases, input from the manager/coach.

Think BCCI should buy Westindies Cricket board and should take care of their future.
