The Antigua and Barbuda Government is considering measures aimed at preventing people from wasting and stealing water.
“APUA (Antigua Public Utilities Authority) has said that on a number of occasions they have reported to the police that some people are doing unlawful things like bringing a pickup truck to a standpipe and filling up their barrels of water with hoses. Police have said that they are powerless to intercept them because there is no law for them to act,†said Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst.
