Council to ban short shorts and miniskirts because they are 'disrespectful'

Most young women have heard the phrase 'you're not going out dressed like that!' from their parents. Now, they will hear if from their council too, if they live in Dadeville, Alabama (pop. 3,212).
Low-slung trousers are already on their way to being banned, but officials want to make it a gender balanced decision, so they're considering banning short skirts and shorts too.
“My concern is it should be for everybody,” Dadeville City Council member Stephanie Kelley said at a Council meeting. “I think for the girls, with these shorts up so high looking like undergarments and dresses so short, I don’t want us to be showing favouritism.”
Another councillor, Frank Goodman, says that young people have the wrong idea of what is cool. He said: Who is going to respect you if you don’t respect yourself. The reason I brought this up is I think people deserve respect when they are in public. I think slacking is disrespectful. I think it gives our younger generation the wrong impression of what is cool.”

He also brought God into it. “We have people walking down the street with their hand in front of them holding up their pants,”
“Then they have the nerve to walk into a place of business and ask for a job. If you come to my house you are going to pull them up before you get on my property, much less in my door.
"I prayed about this. I know that God would not go around with pants down.”
It is not known how this would be enforced, or what counts as a short skirt or short shorts.
It is also not known who the clothing is supposed to be 'disrespectful' towards. It sounds like a ruling that many parents would agree with, but that might annoy the teens of the town.
Is it a coincidence that 'Dadeville' has 'Dad' in the name? We think not.

I think religion or morality should not be mixed with laws. Personally, I would not date a woman who reveals too much skin and if I was a woman, I would not date a man who sags his pants ridiculously. However, I have a problem when a law dictates how someone should dress. As long as it is not indecent exposure, the law should not dictate what kind of clothes people put on.

WTF? This is just crazy man. No one has the right of telling you how to dress. Banning shorts and miniskirts? Are these people crazy, it feels like we’re living in another era. For God’s sake, marijuana is legal in that country (most of the country, anyways), what are these people talking about? This is the stupidest thing I’ve heard lately.

Disrespectful really! The council will have to ban 80% of different acts that fall under the category. Why the wrath on miniskirts and short shorts only? 

I think the council may think that banning miniskirts will make women more respected by men and will have less assaults on women and will be surprised if this law goes forward, and also will be interesting to see what the people have to say about it. I reckon that people will have to be aware of this law and may get some negative responses, as some people, especially the ones on holiday may not like the law and not visit the place. I think they may have some issues with the people and how they dress and think banning these sort of clothes, will lead to less crime in the area and problems as well.
