I was digging around through the stats last night and came across this one that I thought you would enjoy Gina. Of all bowlers to have taken a minimum of 150 wickets, no bowler has a lower strike rate than Dale Steyn. This just emphasises how dominant he has been and for such an extended period of time. His strike rate is lower than the likes of Waqar Younis, Malcolm Marshall, Allan Donald, Fred Trueman, Mitchell Johnson, Sir Richard Hadlee, Dennis Lillee, Ian Bothan and on and on.
The covers are off and play is expected to resume at some point in the near future although the players have still yet to leave for the ground from their hotel.
With just two days left, it is going to be very hard to manufacture a result from here. If this does end up in a draw, I believe Bangladesh would pick up 6 points in the ICC rankings, while South Africa would drop 5 points.

Why can't both the team captains eliminate one of the innings to get a result in this dead match. What I mean is that Bangladesh can bat a little longer and when they get all out, South Africa and Bangladesh eliminate their innings so South Africa will then have to chase. This has been done before with South Africa v England and it became an exciting match with a result.

I was thinking about that match earlier. Hansie Cronje received a lot of praise for doing that at the time, but a few months later it was revealed to be the beginning of the whole match fixing scandal. Hashim Amla is not the type of person to get involved in something like that, so I'm afraid we're in for a dull draw ... or possibly another day of watching the rain falling.

That doesn't really sound fair. How can South Africa be penalised for failing to win when the odds were stacked so heavily against a result? It won't affect the rankings in the short term, but if one of the teams involved was in the middle of the pack, it could cause a big shift for teams that weren't even involved in the series.
Unfortunately, the fifth day was also completely wiped out due to a wet outfield. A disappointing series all around. You have to wonder whether this will impact opposing teams agreeing to series in Bangladesh during the monsoon season going forward.

I certainly hope it has an impact on future schedules. This series was a total waste of time and money. The only positives to come out of it were the wonderful debut performance of Mustafizur Rahman and Dale Steyn taking his 400th test wicket. Dane Vilas was pleased to make his debut but he didn't really get to show his worth. And the big loser is Quinton de Kock who got dropped without a chance to redeem himself in the second innings of the first test.
