The involvement of the West Indies would essentially make the series a shoot-out between the Caribbean team

and Pakistan for the eighth and final spot in the Champions Trophy ;

which will be hosted in England.

No matter how many times we host this thing, I still can't see us ever winning it. 2013 still hurts. I am still not quite sure how we managed to lose that one. Same goes for 2004.

Take a look over the scorecard:

Historically, West Indies have fared pretty well in the ICC Champions Trophy - runners up in 1998 and the aforementioned win in 2004. Surely there should be some rule in place that former winners of the tournament receive an automatic entry in to all future iterations. Make Bangladesh and Pakistan battle it out for the final spot

Well we have the West Indies cricket board to blame for not scheduling any odi matches until Bangladesh overtook the West Indies. If the West Indies can't beat Zimbabwe and Pakistan then they don't deserve to play in the champions trophy.
