Eoin Morgan disappointed with size of England's Duckworth-Lewis method task

Captain Eoin Morgan hopes games like England's narrow defeat by New Zealand on Friday will lead to tweaks in the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Eighth-wicket partners Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett were scoring quickly, with England's requirement down to 54 from 37 balls when a heavy rain shower hit the Kia Oval.

Morgan was disappointed to see England left to chase 34 runs in 13 balls when the target was recalculated, and his side fell 13 runs short as New Zealand levelled the series at 1-1 after a second successive 50-over game full of excitement.

Let me start by saying I am the first to admit no mathematical system to reset targets in interrupted limited-overs matches will ever

be 100% perfect.  To that end, I am always interested in listening to sensible critiques, open to the possibilities of improving

the DLS (the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, the revised Duckworth-Lewis system) structure,

and a strong proponent of full debate regarding the strengths and weaknesses of DLS - and any competing methodology.
