GRANGER’S INAUGURATION COSTS STATE $195.5 MILLION

A source close to the APNU+AFC government made the startling revelation that expenses incurred during David Granger’s inauguration amounted to a figure close to the $200M mark. Granger was sworn in under controversial circumstances on May 16th. This was followed by a lavish ceremony at the Providence Stadium held on the 26th of May to mark the occasion.
Granger had told members of the media that the event would be held at no cost to the state but our source revealed that donations only covered a small fraction of the cost. The source said significant state resources were expended on transportation, meals and accommodation for hundreds who took part and also thousands of supporters who were ferried from various locations across Guyana. In addition many overseas attendees were provided with meals, accommodation and transportation which amounted to a further hefty sum. The source said that a document produced puts the total cost at around $195.5 million dollars
