Richie Benaud dies

I've just read the sad news on CricInfo that Richie Benaud has died after a long battle with skin cancer. He was 84.

This is shocking news to me! How sad! I've been ardent fan of his lively commentary. I knew he was in hospital and was battling cancer and heard of some reports about his prognosis. But alas! age wasn't on his side. Nevertheless, he lit up channel 9 with his uncomplicated style and lives in the hearts of cricket lovers. RIP Richie!

RIP Richie Benaud. 70+ mins of 1980's ball by ball commentary

Rip to the legend both as a cricketer and as a commentator. His commentary will be missed by many including myself and I hope that something will be done to offer further protection to players from the sun so as to not suffer this same fate.

I was looking for him during the world cup and did not know of his battle with cancer.
